I actually had to google 'keyboard' to figure out what you're talking about. I still don't know what those buttons are for.
Maybe you are just used to it and/or have never used keyboards without these buttons. IIRC Microsoft added these keys as a standard for keyboards with the introduction of windows 95. The one is the start button (shortcut for Ctrl+Esc, the other mimicks the right click button or context sensitive menu). In other words, neither serves any purpose whatsoever.
I am not sure why keyboard manufacturers would adhere to this Microsoft guideline, but they all did.

-what the fuck is a 'scroll lock'?
-who the fuck uses the 'num lock'?
-what does the 'pause' button do?
-what is the point of the 'insert' button?
-Why do we still have the 'escape' button?
-Why are there 12 function buttons?

not used anymore these days. mainly for console based OSes

same as above, plus if you set 'insert' on and then within a 12 sec period insert your dick in ps2 port you will feel really great, you should try it out sometime!

to pause a program. usually console programs can be paused that way and also i know some shooters use the pause key too.

I suppose some keys are of use to coders.

no i didnt like it. the build up was good, but it was just crude noise later. guitars just dont do it for me. why do you say metal is tough? its the most crudest music ever. music must uplift the mind to higher dimensions.
