6870 should do 1080p 4xaa+16xaf on High with Crysis.....4xaa does sharpen the game quite a bit, but my 4850 can't maintain playable frames, but the 6870 is probably 110-130% faster.
Here's some pics with my 4850...1st 2 are Metro 2033, next 2 are ME2.
What alternative is there to the 6870?....it's got plenty of grunt, doesn't cost a bunch and will be a HTPC champ if you need it.

Been using PerformanceTest 7.0 to get a feel for what different systems are like, and both the HD 6870 and the GTX 460 seem about the same. I will end up going with the cheapest of the two I can find.

Assuming I go with the GTX 460/HD 6870, I am now looking at processors. HELP!
I'd go for AMD, it'll save quite some money on the mobo.
I've noticed that too. The intel mobos are about $100 more expensive.

I'm a Intel Fanboy, so my vote is for the 750-950quads.
U pay more but your CPU performance is better.

Which makes sense only if he actually needs the additional performance. I'm not getting the impression he needs the highest performance possible however, he seems to go for good performance, in which case you'd generally be better off with AMD CPUs, because they are cheaper, particularly if you take the mobo price into consideration.
My last Intel system was a Pentium Pro 150 Mhz BTW, I have had AMD systems only after that.

Crysis minimum FPS is very dependent of CPU grunt, so since he's trying to build a Crysis killer, it might not be a bad idea to get a decent CPU.
Intel CPU's are more powerful despite lower hz values.

The bitch of it is that Berzerker is right, not only is intel more expensive, but their mobos are more expensive too.

Just as long as you end up being happy and can fully push your GFX card, especially at the bottom end.

Ya I understand that, and I am trying to build a good PC, but when a chip costs $200 more, it's painful to also pay $100 more for the mobos.

If I can find a decent mobo for $100 I'll get the i7 950 but seeing as how that chip costs $300, I don't want to dish out another $300 for a mobo (what a joke!)
I already have all the hard drives and optical drives, and am gonna go get some ram tomorrow

Also I can get a mobo (S/PDIF & HDMI) for the AMD for around $70 but for the intel it costs minimum $140

Really, I thought the case does look pretty cool. Anyway I wanted something small and for the price this is amazing, it comes with a 450 W power supply. Others only come with a castrated 250W power supply, and others still boast a $200 price tag and come with no power supply!
Why dish out another $50 for mouse/keyboard and another $50 for DVD player when I can recycle the ones I have.
In case you guys haven't clued in, I am building three PCs, with this main one I am using right now, running windows XP and ATI X1600 to act as a dedicated server.
