There's been some hysteria regarding needing a quadcore, but my dual core is handling it fine.
I think this is a reasonably good game, but I'd rather put my money into Wolfenstien and Operation FP.

I'll bargin bin this in 18months, especially as it's a bit crash happy.

I haven't read anything really on it, just heard it being talked about. So is it like call of duty 4 or what?

You really think this is a good thing? IIRC you cannot downgrade if this particular update breaks anything on your system, so I upgrade DX only when I run into a problem or if a game requires it.

I cannot remember Steam ever upgrading DX here, so maybe it was the game, not Steam, that updated it?

No, this is more of a military sim, so they try and be more realistic, and you've got a shitload of commands to learn+ most of your shooting is mid to long range sniping.

Yep, you should be able to play it at 1920x1200, but you have a number of video options that you'll need to select as this game is more demanding than Crysis.

I would definitely advise trying the demo before buying this game.

Dunno, but I heard that people who dled from fileplanet etc, were having a problem relating to DX, but it was updated for me when I tried to launch the demo.
I've had Steam for 8months, and I've never had a problem.
I tried to dl a 1.8gig demo from Gamers Hell servers once, and it shit itself at 96%, so I don't bother with demo's of that size unless they're via Steam.

what is dont like abt steam is that the game download will be done on the same drive as the one where you installed steam. there is no option in steam to change that! that is really stupid. what if your drive gets filled up? you will have to uninstall steam and then reinstall it on another drive.

Fair enough, but I prefer to buy games on DVD....I only use steam for demo's and buying older smaller games.

You cannot specify where to download? That's fucking shitty. So if you install steam on let's say the C partition where you might have it 15 gb since it's just windows and programs, you're fucked unless installing steam to another drive?

oh well i have done both. i played hl2 and the sequences, portal on steam. just recently i purchased left for dead on dvd and it said it wanted steam and so thats when i found you need to install the game where steam is. you know it wont take them more than a day to make it installable on another drive, but they havent done shit abt it.

Arma2 Operation Arrowhead will be out in 4-5 days.
This is a expansion to Arma2, but is also a standalone, and I noticed that both Arma2 and OpArrow are 8 gig in size, so I don't know if that means no2 is just as big or what.

As I'm desperate for a tactical shooter, I plan to buy this as long as I can get the DVD and a printed manual, otherwise it'll have to wait till after the 11th of next month.

Hopefully this won't be as buggy as Arma2, and they've made some minor adjustments to the command system, so it might be easier to navigate.
I wish these dickheads would stop with the complex command schemes, for example, one of the Indy car drivers didn't have a clue how to set up Iracing{online racing sim}, and he's a pro driver, so I can't see the appeal of overly complex commands in games.

I like complex with reason.(not gta4)unlike modern gaems where the controls are just mashing A ,B,X,O.IOW tactical ftw

I'm not asking for that sort of simplification, but if you consider Op Flashpoint DR or GRAW2 2007, both of these games had easy and effective command schemes.
Anyway, if seems to me that the simpler it is, the less chance for bugs and failed commands.

Arma2 is now up to patch 1.07, so who knows whether OpArrow will work well out the box, but if it does, could be a little beauty if you like tactical shooters.
