I like the good & evil aspect of Black & White (love the bearded person that represents good!) but it seems like this game gets enthusiastic reviews from some sites like IGN. 9.7 the score! IGN has a fair number of similar reviews like these. They praise games like Alice for example too.

have you ever played Dungeon Keeper 2? Try that, it will make black and white seem like a pathetic piece of shit. It was made by kinda the same people.
Black and white HAS a good ideea but they just failed to actually DO something with it. Just like 50% of games nowadays i guess.
I think i may have a weird obsession with an old game, DK2 like Puk has with C&C. We both seem to mention our games for no particular reason everywhere.

It's really that good.
It's kinda old so the graphics are 3D shitty if you zoom up close but from the standard RTS view it's ok.
So it's like black and white combined with sims. You own a dungeon, or actually some dirt in which you can build. And you have a portal.
Now depending on what rooms you have, creatures will come. So if you have the library then warlocks appear, if you have a torture chamber then some S&M chicks in black leather will join.
Make a prison and enemies dragged there will transform into skeletons.
You also don't have control of your units so they have a mind of their own. They sleep, eat and fight the enemy...if they feel like it.
Oh and you can take control of one of your unit in a FPS style thing. Pretty basic stuff but it's something that didn't caught on and it's a damn shame.
Now i await puk to say "write a review of it".
Edit: Oh and about the gamespot mark. Sims 3 got a 9....

Well overlord has that "so....is this it?" feeling after a few hours.
But for the first our it starts out good and promising, then a few hours later it's decent. But then jesus...
It gets too repetitive and the save system is annoying as fuck.
I'd recommend to play for yourself if you can without paying for it. It has a pretty different gameplay from most games so i won't spoil the only little fun you'll have, discovering how it works.

I still have World of Warcraft installed on my PC but haven't played it in ages... I have a level 12 gnome with a white beard. I got bored of it... is Guild Wars better though? I especially liked the music in that game. Too bad you can't pirate it.

You can you just need soemone with a private server, but still I hate MMos it magnifies everything bad about RPGs IE grind,bland equipment, random generic story, ect,ect.
Guild wars is like a watered down daiblo in the form of a MMO that rties to force you to change areas once you hit a certain level.

It's not necessarily better. Guild Wars has a better game play and is generally more fun to play in PVP. However, World of Warcraft owns it in PVE so... they have their good sides and bad sides.

I'm playing Mario Forever now. It's a cool Mario clone for the PC that is also freeware, I definitely recommend it. It's pretty fun.

Mario (1-3) on the NES was good, Super Mario was good, and so was Mario 64, but I never played it after that.
Things like Mario Kart was good too, but I suppose I always liked the simplicity in those games

Like somehow that character is even remotely interesting. You wanna make a kart racing game? ehhh....i'm not sure. Oh you wanna randomly insert some NES game icon in it?? Now you're talking.
So you just force that Mario universe into ANYTHING for a boost in sales. Even if the gameplay is good or not, just fucking use the bland and boring as shit Mario universe and retards will buy it. Yes, fuck you berzeker, fuck you mihai...fuck anyone who ever said anything good about any other mario game that is not a platformer.

Why does it bother you so much? I do not see why a Mario game has to be bad solely on the fact that Mario is in it. A good game is a good game. You can take points off if a game plays in a universe that does not appeal to you, but labeling it bad from the outset is plain silly.
The kids have some Mario games on the Gamecube and on the DS and I tried a few, and none appealed to me, other than Paper Mario 2. Maybe I would be able to stomach the other games too if I had grown up with Mario games (but I am too old for that).
