Quality Site - Used in average game scores
No longer linked - Site did not maintain activity
Agreed, they do not post many reviews there, but the reviews they do post are pretty good IMHO.
Why would quantity be relevant to Gamerankings anyway?

That's so fucking stupid and shows why gamerankings is such a joke.
The quantity of reviews doesn't make a single bit of difference, only the quality. Fucking joke

I think they wanted to set a minimum requirement to weed out sites like blogs, facebook profiles, ftp servers, chat rooms, youtube video reviews, porn puns like Wii Fuck

Then you would need qualitative rather than quantitative requirements.

There are qualitative requirements:
* Sites must be visually appealing and looks professional.
* Sites must review a variety of titles.
* Sites must have a dedicated domain name with professional hosting.
* Site reviews must be well written.
* Sites must conduct themselves in a professional manner.

You were not replying to the Firingsquad example then? They seem to meet all requirements except the quantitative one.
Sites like Firingsquad should be in Gamerankings IMHO.
BTW Gamecritics is in there too, does this meet all quality requirements? It is really slow and looks pretty crappy (but maybe it does not like firefox, which would negate its professionality).
And Gameguru was in gamerankings but now is "No longer linked - Site did not maintain activity", so it was not kicked out for looking crappy.
I would not think Gamershell looks any good either.

Gamershell is a pretty big and important site, they have loads of files for download.

Look, I was just responding to your "no qualitative" post.
To be honest with you, I don't understand what point you're making here.

You are ignoring the context of the post then, that's what causing the confusion. It seems you read all posts completely isolated rather than in their context. If you read all posts of this page in chronological order, you will see that Suislide replied to my post about Firingsquad, and it seemed logical to assume that's what you reacted to too.
Never mind though.

It's just that it's important and deserves to be listed, it doesn't look that bad either.

I see what you're saying now.
I think most of us are going off of the initial post suislide made. If those are the entry requirements, then we fall way short of them.
If there are exceptions to those rules, then maybe we'll get in.

I like the fact that we can curse in the reviews, and that we are extremely critical of the shitty games out there. In fact, I think that makes us less biased since I am pretty sure this is how average gamers react to shitty games. But I fear other 'professional' game sites might think this is a joke.
I like to think of ourselves as a dissident website, cantankerous if you may.

If it is a big and important download site (I do not dispute that), that does not make it an important review site, and Gamerankings links to reviews only.
I think it looks really basic, just a bit less than VGS (my browser gives me the message that I need to install additional plugins to display all media on the site, which of course I am not doing, so you might be looking at a different site altogether).

Gamershell hits most requirements to get in:
* Sites must have at least 300 reviews (1093 reviews...check)
* Sites must publish a minimum of 15 reviews a month (fail).
* Sites must be visually appealing and looks professional (check).
* Sites must review a variety of titles (check).
* Sites must have a dedicated domain name with professional hosting (check).
* Site reviews must be well written(check).
* Sites must conduct themselves in a professional manner(check).

So what's the big scheme then? Hope that they make a mistake and let you in, so that you can mess up their gaming scores? That would not be a nice thing to do.

Is a joke a bad thing now? I do not understand these youngsters any more nowadays.

Since there are no GOTY 2007 / 2008 awards, I reread the GOTY 2006 awards. The following seemed relevant for this thread:
Quote:
Piece of shit websites include Gamespy, Gamespot, IGN, RewiredMind, and basically any site listed on Gamerankings.
So Suislide hopes to promote VGS to the rank of "piece of shit websites"?
