An ridiculous list here. It shows the limited perspective of the console crowd I guess.

Yeah, that list sucks 75 balls covered in disease riddled body fluids & shit all at once, although I do like sandboxes, but they gotta be big, and deep. Otherwise you can't really bury anybody.

1) THE COVER SYSTEM
Cover systems are stupid and only work in a hand full of real world sims, I'd rather have tighter collision checks than be forced to stick to a wall where I can be killed because I AM STUCK TO A WALL.

Give me smooth controls where I can lean/duck/laydown fast and easy and see and aim any day!!!

2) THE MORAL DILEMMA
Its not bad persay mostly under utilized since you have 2 real choices to chose from asshat and and goody twoshoes.

We had a dialog pathing/tree evolution when they started to to use good/evil gauges, now we need another to double the paths/branches so you can play as a real goody 2 shoes, good but failable, bad ass and evil bastard.

3) ACHIEVEMENTS AND TROPHIES
A non issue really I avoid the online services because they are mostly bloated fluff that do not add any relevant value to a game but for the rare patch slapped on most unfinished/unpolished games...and that dosent even begin to fix them... *coughbioshockcoughSW:Unleashedcoughfallout3cough*

4) CO-OPERATIVE GAMEPLAY
Well by this you mean multi player, there's nothing wrong with co op its pretty great whats bad is multi player games are either broken and made less to focus on multi player*coughHALOcoughSHadowruncough* or have multiplayer slapped in a very bugy or unfinsihed state because..MP is a must.

5)sand box
GTA made sandbox big, ok sure sand box is not a bad thing IMO its more the devs fault for pacing out gameplay and keeping you interested in playing. The same trouble I had with Cryisis I had in FO3 receptivity and a lack of new powers/equipment takes it toll.

If you pace things out and try and keep some things fresh it makes the game more enjoyable for the long run.

In final since ye don't have the balls to say it I will FUCKING REGENERATION , Regeneration combined with sloppy and quick development that makes tiny corridor laden levels(D3,Q4,Halo 2+,90% of all new FPSs) has gutted the intricacy and depth of the FPS genre.

A gun and run game is good for the lulz now and then like bad action film/anime with its lulzplots but for Christ sakes every other game is mirroring the same bland and depicted style of weapon/level and health designs.

You know the last 2 FPSs I enjoyed were time shift even if it had no replay value what so ever and necrovision, hell the last great but flawed FP game I played was Dark messiah(a neutered Arx fatalis 2) say what you will about the crappy story and worse dialog I loved the melee combat once I got into it and the AI could walk and chew bubble gum at the same time unlike Bioshocks, even FO3's AI is a lil bit on the dim side.

Bioshock was a consoletards dream crappy AI but fior acouple cute but worthless scripts, limited weapons in a larger than normal sandbox environment... as a long time PC gamer its a joke sure its an ok game but my god....its a mess..... FO3 is better but suffers from alot of issues.

I'll stop now.....my rants may never end....LOL

I like a lot of your points Zippy, but I genuinely liked BioShock

A lot of those points were blown out of proportion. Moral Dilemma? It's usually, like you said, two choices, which has almost zero consequence on how you play the game.

Trophies are fucking useless

Cooperative gameplay generally exists b/c the developers are too lazy/stupid to create bots for skirmishes.

Why did you ruin our special moment? I was enjoying reading your post up until the end where you had to suck it with bioshock.

It had a mediocre, if not bad, control system but it made up for it because of the world you were in. That's why you played it, you were having fun despite the controls. And in the end immersion can excuse bad controls if it makes you want to go on.

Next I expect you to attack portal for lack of guns and almost no enemy AI.

But I agree on the other points. That moral dilemma is always absurd. For example I'm playing fallout 3 right now and I was neutral most of the time but even the game says you'll miss out on things so you have to be either fucking gay or satan himself.

Ya the first time through I hated the game. Especially since the enemies magically get tougher half way through. Also, the electric shock plasmid is so much more powerful than all the other ones.

Portal was short...too short. It would be good as a free mod to half life source, but I wouldn't pay more than the bandwidth necessery to download it.

Alez wrote:

it's never properly done:

Bioshock: harvesting or not harvesting the little sisters is no moral dilemma, it's basically a tradeoff between more adam, or more big-daddy-hypnotize plasmids.

MGS2 u can finish the game without killing anyone, but it's more about getting the no-kill trophy than anything

Moral dilemma for me is: should I build up my base defenses and let the AI get mowed down as they send wave after wave of their units at me, or should I build nuclear silos and just decimate them. muahahahaha evil4.gif

I was thinking of Kotor or Fallout. Bioshock has no moral dilemma. That's just a little choice with the sisters. You either have less adam so less fun or you have plenty of adam and view the "good" ending on youtube because you were too busy upgrading your shit.

I'll explain me annoyance with BS below.
Moral Dilemma is really heavily under used.

Trophies are useless, like most of the WIIs gimmicky party games.

Co op is fun though play through the whole game with a friend or 2 with harder enemies, come on that's a ton better than slapped together MP

More like an asshat or a goody goody there's no real evil option well mabye F0 dose let you get close by destroying towns and what not but with invincible kids and no real villain network its almsot moot.

BS is an ok game that rubed me the wrong way hard, speffics below.
================================
BS is an ok game but the PC version is even more unpolished than its console counter part.

For me between the AI(its deaf and near sighted, I tested the AI for a few hours),lack of death consequence, items stuck everywhere, simplified weapons modding and weapons, questionable balanced weapons and equipment in the form of plasmids it was just one thing after another.

One of the things that killed me was on Dark messiah you could use TK on a object toss it and distract the AI BS is not that deep and its immersion is destroyed by lousy AI and items stuck everywhere compounded by GOD mode re spawning.

Now add the issues of the PC version with the mouse and other things and the game just grinds my buttons.

In the end BS is an ok sandbox lulz fest its not a good FPS RPG.

About the only the games I diss this hard on are Halo 2 and 3 the ones where MS helped bungie create....

I don't get so much bile backed up when a game knows its place, BS and Halo 2+ are AAA+ games that are thoroughly B class, Time Shift/Necrovision/Crytosis are B class games that are clinging to B class I can see the fun and innovation in them some games are to full of themselves leaving most of the designs within done better else where even in that combination.

In the end its not that I hate and loath BS I am harsh on it because I truly wanted a great game and got something closer to sloppy seconds than a full warm meal.

In bioshock it seems you can't see the forest for the trees. Yeah, it has plenty of flaws but it offers a wonderful world to explore. The means with which you explore that world sucked, i agree. I didn't play it because of the gunplay, it sucked ass.

But halo....oh man, HALO?? Gets my blood boiling just reading that name.
Halo's success is either proof that microsoft could brainwash people or proof that humanity has no hope of survival.

The level design(BS) is not all that, its pretty its nice to have a hub layout but...its much to simplified to be enamored with....but then again I am licking the damn moss and not enjoying the bugs biting me in the forest....LOL

I loved Halo 1(on PC) it was a good FPS with an ok MP side that got blown out of proportion. FOr tis tiem H1 was a great game but it suffered from MS forceing it on the Xbox to pump their console sales and the series was consolefied and dumbed down....

Halo 1 was a MAC/PC game befor MS came along and made it a Xbox exclusive.

Now heres a touch one H1 or HL2 no eps....I;d say H1 is better both have somewhat bland level design,HL2 has worse vehicle levels,H1 has slightly better standard levels they both have the same level of AI, HL2 has a worse ending(I HATE IT) and I am annoyed with teh caped limited weapons on HL2 they feel wrong for some strange reason....and that's put me off really trying to eps...

H2 and H3 have no heart or soul they have all the motions akin to bioshock but are empty ;_;
