Thanks for the warning, but it's unneccessary, at least for me.
iPods are fucking annoying and gimmicky, and above all else overpriced to shit. I just stick with MP3 players; as long as it has a clock, then I'm satisfied, and so you should be to.

I would not quite put it like that, but I am also surprised that these Apple products are so popular.
They are expensive and trendy, that's 2 reasons not to buy already. Then in addition this manufacturer seems to be the most arrogant company on the face of the earth, even more so than Microsoft. And let's not forget that they always somehow try to restrict you in the hard- or software you want to use their products with (but that does not count as a separate point, because it follows from the previous one).
They have a really long way to go before I buy anything from them.

Well I like their line of computers, b/c they deliver a very good package (laugh it up). But their other products are crap.

Their PC's are very expensive and are very much focused on design (which seems completely silly to me, I do not care what my PC looks like, I put it under the desk). You can get similarly performing hardware at a lower price (or higher performance at similar prices if you prefer) elsewhere.
And they control both the hardware and the software, that makes if reasonably simple to warrant the combination works properly. But clearly this comes at a price. If you like their software you have to buy their hardware, I hate that.

To put a counter argument to that, I like that they control both the hardware and the software.
It's more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Everything works! iPhot is phenomenal, iCal is great, iChat is easy to use, the address book is convenient, wireless is a lot easier than under windows, the integrated camera is useful...
a lot of this has to do with the fact that Apple controls what hardware it uses. With windows you are never too sure if hardware works with all the software out there.

I meant specific hardware
so you buy a tv converter, but then doesn't always work with 3rd party software
Another good example is wireless. Setting up wireless under xp is tedious, and complicated.
Setting up a home network under xp either works the first time, or never at all
