what makes a game a Tom Clancy? (great idea for a poll)
Do game devs knock on his door to get advice on how to make a game more Tom Clancier?
Or does he sit in a state room with a huge oval table in a palatial villa armed with military men equipped with submachine guns surrounded by DOD officials and other important state figures giving tactical advice for missions of high importance to national security?
And who is he, some retired war veteran who worked in the secret service?
And should i brim with confidence and patriotism when i see a Tom Clancy game?
Let the brainstorming being gentlemen!!

I don't think he's ever been in the army. He's like that Tropic Thunder guy.
I think to be worthy of a Tom Clancy game you have to simultaneously have an incredibly slow paced story with an overwhelmingly clunky control scheme.
So you could have a stupid story about how Mexicans are taking over a village, then force the player to open up a UAV and painstakingly observe the terrain ahead before proceeding. Of course you have no idea what the fuck you're looking at, so you end up walking into an ambush anyways.
Though he wanted to serve in the United States military, he was rejected after failing a required hearing exam in the ROTC. Before making his literary debut, he spent some time running an independent insurance agency.

Anyone know if his books are shitty too?
Maybe he is a scientology member?

I think it would be safe to assume as such.

The last administration messed up so badly that even the crazies are ashamed to admit it.

These games are supposed to sell better because his name is on the box. Then I would think he should at least make sure the games are at least half decent. If he fails to do so, he could expect to be blamed too.

he is probably a writer and not a gamer, so he has no clue how badly games can be made.

Because his name is on the box and therefore his reputation is at stake?
If I were a fan of his books I might prefer a game with his name on it over games that do not bear his name. If then the game proves to be crap, it damages his name and standing.
And people who play games will think twice before buying a Tom Clancy book after experciencing the shittyness of his games.

Ubisoft is also to blame. No one is saying they are off the hook. But Tom Clancy is in bed with them too.

A tom clancy game means you're gonna kill terrorists. TERRORISTS did something bad and now you're gonna kill them and be the good guy.
Oh and you're also american. And the rest of the world is looking up to you to save them from TERRORISTS.
I just like the Splinter Cell series. I enjoy sneaking up on people. The story is just "Fisher, we need you to bla bla bla terrorists bla bla bla kill 'em by being a sneaky weirdo in a rubber suit".

apparently Clancy hates Mexicans too. I don't know if that's b/c he hates beaners, or b/c he hates Muslims, but knows he can't get away with it in 20,000 spin off games.

There are some good Tom Clancy games also, for example: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
Besides the fact that this game is a very good game, it also has mountains of replayability. First of all, the game is good so if you like it you'll end up finishing it 2 or 3 times, then there is the Coop mode which adds an extra 10 hours to the game time and there also is a Versus mode which is actually a different game altogether! Depending on how much you like it, you can end up spending 30+ hours on it.
So yeah, this is one of my favorite games.

Never played Splinter Cell, but I'm just sick and tired of all these shit games with his name on it.
