They have a forum there, so if VGS is slow you know where to complain.

Yeah, complaining about their website on this forum makes as much sense (i.e. none at all) as complaining about this website on their forum.

I do not know why that site was slow, maybe they had problems or your ISP is having problems or whatever, that is impossible to tell for anyone here. Contacting them or your ISP would make more sense than asking here.
It is equally possible they were under a DOS attack at the moment or your PC had too much too do at that moment and couldn't give the browser the resources it required, or you use a shared connection to the internet that was full, or ......

I've noticed that it's always slow, and always has been slow. I dare say it's the slowest [popular] site on the net.
Apple.com/trailers has got to be the fastest

In that case try to tweak your browser for that site. Try to block all ads, scripts, flash and / or images and see if it makes the site faster (don't mind if it renders the site unusable, the point is to find the cause of the slowdowns). If so, allow scripts, flash etc one at a time to see the speed impact and find the cause. If it is scripts, for example, maybe you can do without them.

Well the thing is that it's slow on every computer I've ever used.
Is it fast for you?

It takes about 10 seconds to load here, which is only a fraction longer than www.ign.com.

LOL that ign page took about 5 seconds to load. Longest 5 seconds of my life
I'm going to depart from my usual comparing a topic to a sexual act/position (in this case comparing page load times to orgasm times) and use this site.
*Side note: I thought the applet crashed when it tried to average out the load time for rotten tomatoes over just 3 attempts. The page starts to have ceasures half way through.
