Has anyone had any luck with Bittorent? It seems like I'm averaging 1 Kb/s (and if I include all the files which are idle, and not being downloaded, then it brings the average down to 0.01 Kb/s)
I'm thinking of switching to iTunes for movies. The quality is better, iTunes organizes the movies for me, I don't have to unrar 13 .rar files (what the fuck?), and best of all, 1 Gb files download in about 30 minutes, as opposed to 11 days.

Check this out, one episode of Lost will take 126 days to download...By that time, they'll all be rescued from the island
Try Utorrent. And pause the uploads when you're downloading as it will increase download speed. I get about 100 kb/s but when there's many seeds I download pretty fast.

Well I've tried most of these tactics:
-limit upload bandwidth
-download files with good seed-to-peer ratio
-port forward bittorent on my router
I even turned off the firewall on my router.
None of these made a difference.
that being said, downloading for 48 hours on Bittorrent is faster than waiting a week for iTunes to get it's act together and fucking upload the latest episode of Lost. For fucks sake, it was on TV Sunday night at 9:00 pm, and it's 1:00 pm on Monday...[/list]

You should better pause the uploads completely when you download a file.... a good tip would be to check Youtube on ways to speed up bittorrent/utorrent. I tried one for utorrent but it only managed to screw up the program, but there other good videos available...

this is the problem with computers, if u want to make anything work, you have to know absolutely everything about it.
I just want to download anal butt sluts II, I shouldn't have to take an underaduate course in IT to 'optimize' my bittorrent application.

What about emule?
Also, I almost always max my broadband speed when downling from Vuze unless there's only a handful of seeds.
