The other levels are the same smart-ass, at least to where I played to (mission 3, or chapter 3 or something like that) but since everything was the same 'till then, 99% likely the game is the same 'till the end.

How the game can be fun if it is basically the same all the time, that would seem to be the question with this game.
Most RPG's too are basically the same all the time, but there you level up, which changes the combat and keep it interesting. In most FPSers the combat stays more or less the same but you get more powerful guns and variation of enemies which is supposed to keep it interesting.
I understood that in Dead Space you get new guns too, but I read reports of people using the same guns practically throughout the game (plasma cutter and line gun: http://tinyurl.com/ckq4xm). If it is correct that you basically use the same guns all the time, what prevents Dead Space from getting boring? Do the environments change substantially? Different enemies that require additional tactics? Puzzles?
I will buy this game anyway BTW once I have a new PC.

see people who say the game is the same, are missing the point. i think these are the sort of people who dont appericate the finer things in life. they like things cheap. the atmosphere in the game really gets you into it. the game progresses by you getting to work some of the systems in the ship in order to escape from it.
yeah the monsters are kind of limited, and it would be nice to have more of them.
there are definitely many rpg elements in the game.
-> you get to collect credits and buy stuff from the store
-> the nano bench is unique to this game where you choose how you can upgrade your weapons. like damage, reload time..etc etc
-> the story unfolds slowly by bits and peices of video and audio here and there, like unreal game in 98.
-> turning gravity on and off is really fun and need to solve some puzzles
-> you cant just shoot the monsters in head in this game, or at the heart, you need to chop off their limbs.
-> it introduces stasis and kineses, to slow down time and to lift heavy objects
if your an intelligent human being and appreciate the finer things in life then you WILL enjoy this game as its unique and one of its kind. its not system shock2 or deus ex, but its a different type in its own kind. do you like resident evil1? there i think i gave you a clue......

I sold my copy and will buy it again once I have a new PC. This seems like a game in which graphics are important, so I want to experience them in full.
I expect to be playing only Gothic 3 the next few months anyway.
