Well, if I look at my own job, most of the migrants I work with are experts and would not compete at the low end of the market here. But as a rule of thumb I suppose you are right, and the lower incomes will be threatened more by immigration than the higher incomes. Still it should be possible to have an immigration policy and a tax / social security system that steers it in the right direction.
I don't think that you are right about the US exporting jobs, the US needs to use the tax system to redistribute incomes much more than they are doing now. The gap between rich and poor must be getting much smaller one way or another. Free trade is a good thing but I do not see the need for capital to be able to flow globally without any cost.
I didn't say that taxing the rich and corporations would be easy, but it is as necessary and climate change, and if the EU couldn't get it done then the UK surely won't (if anything they have consistently blocked any proposals in that direction).
What we need is politicians who are willing to look to the needs of the future,

NEWSFLASH.
THE RICH DON'T WANT TO PAY MORE TAX, as such, no matter your proposal, they'll find a way to move money, or loophole their way out of the increase.
the problem is mainly property inflation{helps the rich, hurts the poor/mclass}, so when trying to operate a business, there's a huge burden via the lease which disproportionately exceeds extra customers, but bear in mind there's many others trying to compete directly, and indirectly for the consumption dollar.
Climate Change, FFS, listen to Alex Epstein and Molyneux discuss AGW and tell me if you still believe, LOL.
Re immigration....the only way it can work is if you bring in skills in demand, and don't exceed job quotas otherwise you have both lower wages AND unemployment{more debt}.

There's an answer, at least in theory.
It's called "The Zeitgeist Movement" and "The Venus Project" aka TZM-TVP.
You can dl a free pdf called "TZM defined" and read about solutions to our economic, ecological and monetary problems.

It's not sci fi though, it's possible now, and getting easier the more tech advances.
It's also inevitable....
