Witcher 3 is obkectively the best mainstream RPG since the witcher 2
CD Projekt Red had a pittance compared to Bethesda's budget and came up with so much more.

Don't these bigger companies with inflated budgets spend most of that shit on advertising, powering the hype train, and paying off reviewers?
Besides, CDPR has far more competent staffers.

The way I feel at this early point is that I might not want to replay, but that will depend on how things progress as I level up.
I agree the dialogue wheel sux though.....anyway, about to put in a few more hrs..
It's grown on me enough that I'm enjoying the game by doing all the MMORPG time sink crap that is actually not as boring as it usually is. I'm actually enjoying settlement building.
Some other youtuber spend 10 minutes screaming into the mic about how bad the game was and asking why there is voiced protagonist, and then at the very end he says "...but I like the game and it's worth buy because I can't stop playing it." That's pretty much how I feel.

I've played all the Witcher games but I've only played about 8 hours of Witcher 3 so far, which is good because at least I'm not as disappointed as those people who went from completing Witcher 3 to Fallout 4 and saw the massive drop in voice acting/story.
I'll get around to witcher 3 after finishing FO4.

Tedious game so far, shooting also sux, in fact, the VATS cinematics in FO3 are far better than this, and real time is nothing special, in fact, it seems near useless without VATS{survival}.
This is also Stalker+Half Life 2 on gfx.

I actually would like to see the Stalker universe in this game engine without the dialog wheel. Would've liked to see Stalker in CryEngine but that Cryzone 23 project has been cancelled I think. When radiation storms hit in Fallout 4 and that weird new music plays it feels like Stalker.

someone write a review please...this site is dead...zzz.....
I do have the game, although I haven't played any games in about 2 months. I'll be catching up on all the new games I've received but haven't played during thanksgiving through winter.
Side note: I hated FO3, enjoyed new vegas from what I played although the base game graphics were eye-fuckingly horrible

Ok, here's my review after 45 hours of Fallout 4:
I'm about to complain and rant about how the game is shit, but somehow I'm still playing it despite all of its problems. That makes it an "ok" game, but a bad "Fallout" RPG.
Imagine Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but without all that pesky reading and dialogue to choose from. Fuck that, I wanna make stuff more deader BAM BAM BAM. I don't got time for good writing or reading. Fuck that shit. I just played 5 minutes of Fallout 4 and Bethesda's main character (notice it's not MY main character as in previous game) had a cheesy romatic dialogue with some female companion just like Mass Effect but with way worse dialogue that I had no control over. My immersion was immediately broken and I quit the game after this 5 minute period to go be productive with my life. That is Fallout 4.
It's like playing Borderlands singleplayer. It is the Dragon Age 2 of the Fallout universe, and Bethesda is the new Electronic Arts. This isn't even exaggeration. The people calling the low metacritic scores "trolling" haven't actually read the negative reviews - they all have valid explanations. The people giving the game 9's and 10's have no explanations for it other than to call the negative reviewers "whiners" and "trolls." There is a reason it has a metacritic user score of 5 (yes, FIVE) across ALL PLATFORMS while the critics are praising it as "the deepest hardcare role-playing experience ever created."
It's dumbed-down crap written for someone with the emotional maturity and attention span of 13 year old child.
They even tried to do the cheesy as fuck romances with your companions from Mass Effect, except with less dialogue.
"Press X to be Sarcastic" is actually the dialogue choice, I'm not even joking that's exactly how it works. The button is labelled "Sarcastic." What the fuck.
I feel like Bethesda has really targeted everyone but Fallout fans with this one.
It is a solid 5/10 that I will probably play 100 hours of because the combat, exploration, and atmosphere are still there - they just took out the actual story and dialogue. So yea, it's Borderlands without friends.
Someone on Bethesda forums actually defended the dialogue wheel and writing by saying that "Previous Fallout games threw too much text at you at once."
The graphics are same as Fallout 3/New Vegas except slightly better lighting and textures. The people still move like robots and walk into walls and chairs and shit, all the while Bethesda is trying to make you take a character "seriously" and think he is "well-written" when he's giving you a speech while literally walking face first into a wall the whole time.
Everyone has that OVERLY DRAMATIC tone of voice that belongs in a cheesy soap opera or television drama and not in any serious piece of writing.
So there you have it, another franchise ruined by the development school of Electronic Arts where you make everything as shallow as Dragon Age 2 because the largest consumer demographic is also the dumbest, most intellectually shallow one.

Games need to target greater audiences than 20 years ago because of much higher production costs. Publishers need to sell millions instead of tens of thousands of copies to merely break even. And in order to sell millions, they need to come down a lot.
It might be possible for game developers to make deepness optional, but apparently they do not think that it is worth it. People like you may be too small an audience to justify the effort?
So your options may be limited to
- quitting gaming now
- getting used to shallower games
- restricting yourself to indie-releases (with the added benefit that you do not need to invest in an expensive gaming PC)

First up, i never considered either fo3 or nv as being good dialogue games, thogh vegas certainly better than fo3......but i liked the combat, leveling, exploration etc.
As for fo4, i can't give a meaningful opinion for at least another 5-10hrs of play, maybe more.
This still has potential to be a good game/shooter, but i don't see how either fo3/nv were the standard for dialogue, in fact most games have crappy dialogue and undeveloped characters, which usually makes me want to murder 98% of all npcs.

Yes, but they are selling millions, so there's no excuse to skimp on anything.

Fuck Bethesda for ruining one of the greatest franchises in gaming history and my personal favorite.

If you go into Fallout 4 only for the combat, leveling, exploration part of it then you can have a great time. As I said there's a lot of good environmental storytelling here and there, and the Wasteland feels VERY dangerous compared to previous games - raiders, mutants, ghouls everywhere. Creeping through the city is pretty fun.
So basically I just ranted about all the things I think are shit about the game, but I'm still playing it. And that has been the story from every reviewer I usually look at - they all say it's got serious problems but at the end of the day they can't stop playing it. That's about how I feel.

I have a strong feeling these higher production costs are going to marketing than to the actual game development.
In any case it will probably be a good game once all the DLC's are out and mods and what not.

Seems like some of the companion/major characters have depth, but the "player" is a tard with only a few choices via dialogue wheel.
