And don't fuck me with graphics. Yea they're nice and shiny, and chicks got ass and boobs, but that's not what games are about. Games are about GAMEplay. See the game and the play? If you put the two words together it gives you gameplay. If you play games, you do it for GAMEPLAY, unless you're retarded of course, in which case fuck you!
We could call the games today Displays, because that's all they have: graphics. Yea, you can play the same gameplay like previous' games, but it's dumbed down for xboys like you. Seriously 2010 games, most of them anyway, are reharshed games of the past with 1-2 extra features, better graphics and dumbed down gameplay so 10 years old kids don't have to encounter a hard puzzle where they have to do more than roll their face on the keyboard/put the burger down so they can use their both hands on the controller. Yea there are some good games, but that doesn't make them any less rehashed. The thing is, if you were 40, as you claim, than you'd be a fucking stupid grampa, because you're too fucking stupid to remember that the previous titles had a way better story, a way better gameplay and didn't rely on graphics to say.

You'd choose new games cause most of them are fucking easy as shit, require one fucking play to find out anything, take 2 fucking hours to complete. You claim graphics are bad, but that's why you don't leave games. You encountered a hard puzzle and started crying after the 2nd try. That's your opinion....ie, your specific opinion appears to be that GFX and technical details don't matter, however, I want it all, so I want the technical side covered and I want good gameplay, so under no circumstance will I revisit older junk that may or may not have a good story or whatever criteria you're using to define good games.

This seems like a bad yr for PC games other than racing sims, but we might get lucky with Max Payne3 and Far Cry3, but I suppose you don't like those, you just want some fucken funny digital puzzle games 24/7.
The bulk of the criticism you or anyone makes on these forums regarding modern gaming is often valid, but that's still no reason for me to buy/play 5-10yr old shit.

See Sims 3. It's just a shitty sketch. It has nothing. You ahve to buy expansions to be able to enjoy it. That's the reason most people pirate shit instead of buying it. Whole games cost 200$ nowadays. 300$ if they are fixed through DLC.

Have to agree with the upper statement considering the importance of gameplay.
I just can't give credit to any developer for good graphics (although I can for art design). GFX comes from technological advancement. The only thing that comes from game developers is how they use it. What ideas they make happen with it. I don't intend to play tic-tac-toe made with the crysis engine just because it's the 21th century.
Games nowdays look pretty but most of them are quite shitty to say the least.
Now I don't think there are people visiting older games for their graphics (although I find it nice), but titles of today can learn a lot from older ones in terms of gameplay and story. And those elements in a game are TIMELESS. It does not depend on the current date and hardware, it really is about the people behind it and how well they thought out everything.
A videogame that looks good is impressive for a few months but when it plays well, it's impressive forever.
Oh and the only comsole I ever owned (which I still play reqularly) is a gba, there is no x-box or other shit. If I have a PC there is no reason for me to buy consoles that plays the same games. There are many fun titles on that handheld some being as complex and long as a PC title (although not that impressive in terms of graphics I admit). Most people can find it unnecessary and that's not a problem but I usually have to spend a lot of time away from my armchair so for me this elusive little machine comes handy.

Unless I'm mistaken, Skyrim doesn't need DLC, it's an optional purchase and is supposed to have more depth than the crappy 5 DLC's that they release for Fallout.

Depending on what you're talking about, it's also the case that many of us have grown out of standard FPSers, and the focus has moved to MP for FPS....I for one don't like MP FPS, and with the poor standard of the typical FPS campaign, I no longer buy them.
I place an emphasis on the controls and gameplay mechanics as well, so Skyrim whallops Oblivion for combat and general slickness.....but I'm not sure which game/s you're referring to.

Most games are shitty but Skyrim is not amongst those, that is true. It has his faults (like the one that suislide pointed out in his review) but it offers so much more then other games of nowdays as there are a lot of content in it.
I was okay with the Fallour 3 DLC-s too (got the GOTY edition) because they did not just offer a bonus npc or cheat codes, but another whole chapter.
It's still a DLC but the game was quite a whole even without it.
So to bring Bethesda DLC-s as a point against DLC-s is not advised...
But we can safely say that they are the only exceptions.
For exampe of timeless games there was Outcast, berserker said some good words about it and he said it well. It's one of my favourites too. It came out in 2000 and It featured a living world filled wih NPC-s with ridiculously clever AI. They was aware about the stuff happening around them and everything. One of my favourite feature was when you were looking for something and asked somebody if he knows him he told you where he is and even pointed his arm at his direction. Genious. They even abandoed the conversation if some patrolling soldiers showed up saying something and then ducking on the floor or running away. Your deeds were widely known and influenced the behaviour of others. Superb dialogues and orchestrated music was ll around making it a truly cinematic experience. There you could easily loose yourself in the game without feeling like you're playing with it. The game really did everything to make you believe that you are in an actual existing place and imagine what impression did it left to players 12 years ago.
Omikron the Nomad Soul featured basically the same stuff that I wrote above. I loved how you could got into different bodies depending on how you play the game where you loose or win battles or do stuff.
But Baldur's Gate 2 was probalby one if not the greatest stuff I was in simply because of the NPC-s you could team up with. Forget Dragon Age Origins, the NPC-s in BG 2 were influencing stuff so much and talked with you all the time and with each others too so you could really felt like you are just a part of the team (although the leader). They were really entertaining to a point that you were grateful for their every word. Of course it was advised to set up a (neutral+)good or a (netural+) evil party since too different alignments may resulted in tragedy in the long run (sometimes even without the difference). The game is awesome if you just doing it solo sine the mechanics and the complexity of spells and tactics, magnificet story and clever ideas were basically overloaded in the game but my favourites were the NPC-s.
And if you like to play a good adventure go get Grim Fandango, I can write a lot of stuff about it and an bring up many simpler games too, but there is no time and if you like complex games like the Elder Scrolls series (go try Morrowind, you'll be like "geezus if this was done instead of Skyrim in 2012 that would be like gamer heaven").

Animations aren't that bad. They are not on par with Skyrim but if you remotely like that game you're seriously missing out a great Elder Scrolls experience. I remember playing with Morrowind GOTY through almost a whole year.
