And the DA2 review has 27921 views now, this was approximately half of that last week (it crossed the 14000 mark end of last week if memory serves)
EDIT: Less than an hour later the number of views is 31052, more than 3000 additional views in less than one hour is nothing short of incredible, given the fact that most reviews here do not get this number of views in years.

No this is extraordinary. It took the review 1,5 month to get 14000 views, which is already quite a lot (that's sufficient to get the game in the top 10 of most viewed articles here). And then in 1 day or so it soars to 48004 views (that's what it currently is), there must have been something that caused this influx, a link on a very popular page or so.
To put it into perspective: this number of views of this one day is about the same as the HL2 review got in 7 years, and the HL2 review is the most read 'regular' review on this site.

Yeah, but which one is it? You think it should be possible to trace it, I couldn't find it yet (maybe the Google crawler hasn't indexed the page though).
Only 50 people of all those thousands of visitors bothered to vote for the review, and only 1 choose to register (to post a comment to the review) so it is not likely that this will give a continued boost to the number of visitors or number of forum posts.
The number of visitors is back to the usual 20 now BTW.

Yeah it seems I can only get bursts of hits and regular and unique users don't stick around for long.

no brainer soln=>CHANGE THE LOOK OF THE SITE. Its current state is dilapidated showing signs of aging and immenient dissolution. Have you ever been to one of those cheap motels(not to fuck) and felt that accelerated aging syndrome? What is needed is a dynamic hapenning look. You can write the same content but package it in a modern look, people will buy that. Throw in a few videos of game demos on the main page. Finally get some chicks! Video them playing games and saying horny stuff. Probably NY is better than chi that way. Bring in some music, lets get this party started!

me thinks that while the looks are like a website from '96 , it's not the biggest problem. i mean this looks are fiting to the site itself. first we need to increase the amount of articles. I mean there's like 2-3 weeks between reviews. Of course everybody has their jobs or whatever so we can't compete with websites that's produced by people who's only job is to maintain that shit.
But people are like "whoo i saw that DA2 review on VGS, nice, let me check the site for more funny.. nothing new yet. (two weeks later..) still nothing. this site sucks I'll erase it from my mind"
Or maybe backing up reviews with videos of mages shooting fireballs from between their legs, and characters stucking into walls and stuff. Although a change in looks might be needed, but no music. Naked girls are always welcome though.
LATER we can sell VGS merchandise like t-shirts so we unleash a legion of walking advertisments on the streets.

I would need someone to make videos for me, I'm much too lazy for such a task. The problem is Monkey is dead or something. I haven't spoken to him in years as I would love to update the site.

if you want to improve the visitor count you should appeal more to youngsters. you should make the reviews less formal, use more 'urban' language, not this 'must be suitable for work'-crap you have now.
maybe you should also create a twatter and facialbook account to support this site, its all the rage.
in short: get more trendy, sell your soul if necessary.
