I played gt5 for a while.I Going back to prologue and 4
1...stuff like Iracing, Rfactor and LFS.
I tried all 3 and don't see the great appeal, especially when you factor in ongoing cost+ it's generally understood by people with some driving/racing experience that most sims are much harder to drive than the real thing, and IMO, these paid services are the hardest to drive=boring chore like games using extreme difficulty as the "hook".
2....PC sims like Race07, GTR Evolution, RaceON
You can buy these games from Steam for bugger all, they even have a complete pack which also includes STCC The Game as well, so you'd have bucketloads of standard cars and tracks, and superb MP functionality*.
However, there are literally 50 additional tracks and cars you can add as mods for free, including the awesome 2007 F1 mod.
The value of a PC sim is outstanding MP+ steering wheel precision as opposed to PC ports which have neither.
I have virtually every great track, and these are some of my fav cars....

Simbin also has excellent forcefeeback.
*MP.....public MP can be a mixed bag, some people simply can't drive and are brainless, ie, miss there braking point and hit you, but I still drive for hrs at a time, and there are private leagues where the drivers are very professional and very fast.

NFS Shift/F1 2010
Shift wasn't far off being one of the best SP games ever made, however,
they didn't get steering precision right and MP was a joke.
F1 2010 is a great game for people new to racing, especially with a wheel, but again, MP is only so/so as is forcefeeback, ie, ports are never as good with FFB and MP.
Me, I'd buy either a DFGT/G27/Fanatec CSP and the get the RaceON Bundle off steam, which comes with all Simbins stuff over the last 4yrs.

I have a Logitech DFGT.
Best game to start with is Race07+GTR Evolution.....but you can get the entire bundle as I mentioned and get stuff like Laguna seca and Road America etc.
