I agree with craterface. The true crime of the US was not killing all those people for no reason, but to cause a traffic jam and (probably unpaid) overtime work for the guys up there for no reason. That's an horrendous thing to do!

Mel Gibson was in that WWI movie (Gallipoli?)
Just watched Gallipoli, pretty good movie I'd say.

Never watched the whole thing from start to finish. Just the part where gibson is skinny dippin, and the last part where he's running but he gets there too late.

The film builds up pretty slowly to show how these guys get mates back in Australia. This strengthens the impact of them being slaughtered in a completely useless suicide mission in a senseless war in a far away country. So if you only watched the last bit I suppose you probably missed this.
IMHO the film is too clean though: I didn't really see any of this:

The conditions at Gallipoli, on both sides, have become notorious. In the Summer, the heat was atrocious, and in conjunction with bad sanitation, led to so many flies that eating became extremely difficult. Corpses, left in the open, became bloated and stank. The precarious Allied bases were poorly situated and caused supply and shelter problems. A dysentery epidemic spread through the Allied trenches in both Anzac and Helles. Autumn and Winter brought relief from the heat, but also led to gales, flooding and frostbite.
I also read about the military budgets of those days. About half the total budget in Germany went to the military (as shown here and here). Maybe Germany is a good example, because it was even more militaristic than the other countries (Prusia was said to be an army with a country, and after the German unification of 1871 this applied to all of Germany) and their armies were vastly superior. But Germany lost the naval arms race with England (so the English spent even more on their navy than the Germans) so by today's standards the other nations must have had incredible military budgets too.
Just read in part 8 of the Pelican History of England (about the period of 1815 - 1914) that in 1913 the English expenditure totalled £ 200,000,000 and "some £ 55,000,000 was spent on non-military expenditure", so >70% of all expenditure was to the military, that's really really excessive by today's standards, even for the Israeli and Americans. But even by then it seemed high: a single dreadnought, probably the most expensive object in the military budget, alone cost > 2 million pounds, but you do not build dozens of those each year.
Oh no, the Captn has created yet another new clone, will this ever stop
You could as well have used your mandrake or hilda account or whatever, I lost track.

I read somewhere that this single battle (which took 5 months or so) cost more lives (of all countries involved, so not just the British)
then all wars in the 19th century combined, which was most certainly no peaceful century (Napoleon conquests etc).
Just for the archives I'd like to point out that this alleged statement could have some merit only if
1. you define the 19th century as the period 1815 - 1914 (i.e. exclude the period prior to Waterloo) and
2. take only battle deaths into consideration (i.e. exclude deaths due to sickness and disease, which caused by far the most deaths in the Crimean
war and the American civil war, for example).

Sorry, I'm not looking back to previous broadcasts. I moved to another interesting topic,
the Crimean War, so the next broadcast will be about that, stay tuned!

Back to the topic: a comparison picture of a village near Ieper (Belgium) before and after a battle there gives some idea of the scale of devastation.

I don't need statistics to know that Europe is owned by an asshole banker named Rothschild. What a stupid fucking name - at least Rockafellar SOUNDS cool, in theory, but is just as gay as Rothschild.
The White Hats society better fucking do something about these gad damn decrepit, obsolete, retarded diddlers.
