First, for those who don't know, Garry's mod is a sandbox game based on the Valve's source engine, that allows players to move objects around and build contraptions out of pipes and barrels, it costs 10 dollars on Steam.

Does anybody want to make a review on it?

I personally think it sucks... You just run around with a physics gun, stacking crates and barrels and then calling it a car. There's no goal AT ALL. There are a few gamemodes (which all suck) - roleplaying, building, zombie survivals etc... Some zombie survivals are not too bad but if I wanted to kick some infected ass I would buy a good zombie shooting FPS like left for dead, why the fuck would I want to play this shitty sandbox?

Yeah, this is a request to make a review on that game.

So where else can you find reviews similar to the reviews you find here? Google has never showed me such a site. Obviously he doesn't want just any review of the game, but a VGS-style review.

I've used C++ before but it's a nightmare. The structure is just as ass backward as C (header files and source files) and you got a whole bunch of new stuff in there like multiple inheritance which can fail, and polymorphism which ruins your life and brutally murders your family. Also I don't know who uses it. If the program is relatively simple (web browser, torrent manager, text editor...) you can always use Java. If the program is computationally intensive, you would use C since the message calls involved in object oriented design are, so I've been told, are expensive.

I started using C, then I realized it's for fags, so I switched to Python. Python is the coolest language ever. Now to execute it on multiple computers I use PyMPI which is a bit of a pain in the ass. My code just exceeded 40,000 lines. To run the GUI I use PyGTK.

To give you an example of how Python pwns C, in C lets say you have a variable 'baby' and you don't know if your new baby will be a boy or a girl, so you have to create a class child, then two classes boy_child and girl_child inheriting from child. Then declare baby as a special type (deferred I think), then do something like this
baby?=result_of_pregnancy()

whereas in Python you just skip all that and do
baby=result_of_pregnancy().

well most of what you said is incorrect. Being aware is good, but as the saying goes "an empty vessels makes more noise" is apt in your case.

Well I don't fully understand what Master meant up there, but if you want some help feel free to ask.

Why are you learning Java? For school? I did Java in undergrad. Java is OK. It's essentially C++ with an easier interface and memory management. The problem with Java is what's called it's 'virtual machine'. This is kind of like an emulator for, say, PS2 or NES. But Java's is really poor. I remember my professor telling me how he met with the Sun Java team and pointed out where there are flaws in the virtual machine. So they are aware that it's a slow ass piece of shit. But for whatever reason they won't/can't fix it.

i don't know shit about programming (learned some pascal basics back in school - and hated it) but i always wondered how randomness is implemented on computers. and in most programming languages it is done by a single word. and it's available since the beginning.
for example you can write a program with the purpose to give you a random number between 0 and 10. then you launch it.

it is a computer for fucks sake, it runs by simple methods. metods with mostly one result. how can they fit randomness into a machine? what exactly goes inside of it that gave you exactly that number and not the others? suddenly we got ten results, both equally valid, how the hell does a machine make a decision in favor of one among the others?
i'm only interested in that milisecond between the start and end of the program.
we can safely state that there's no randomness in the outside world, if we roll a dice, it's only physics. how much power we use throwing it, what material are they made of, gravity, etc.. but in a computer, we only push a button that is either on or off. so what are the circumstances that influences the outcome in a computer?

Well you have pseudo-random numbers, which give you a random set of numbers, but every time you start your program, they give you the same random set. Then you can 'seed' it, so use the time for example as the starting point. That way, every time you get a different set. Then you can have purely random numbers, ie. base it on the temperature of the room, number of atoms measured (somehow)...

Then you have 'fuzzy logic' which deals with computations without 100% guarantee of not breaking down. Nobody studies fuzzy logic anymore.

i only vaguely understand the first paragraph, but it's not your fault. but what you're saying still doesn't explain how to generate randomness out of nothing. i mean how to get something that follows the laws of physics to do something that is above it, or at least not affected by it.
also this fuzzy logic-stuff sounds interesting..
