Short but sweet.....too short though.
The games industry haven't a clue how to market games, especially if they genuinely believe they're good.

its just a teaser....more movie like than actual game play. i am a bit alarmed because it doesn't seem to have any connection with Deus Ex. It seems more like assassins creed theme. He has some dream visions in some medieval period, but he suddenly wakes up and is some future scifi-timeline? i am more interested in actual footage and story. btw who the fakk is he?

It's Icarus. The dude who flew too close to the sun and his wings melted and he fell back to earth. Basically talking about the consequences of ambition. They probably included it because in the first game, the computer referred to itself as Daedalus (Icarus' father)

I don't imagine this is going to be anywhere near as cool as the first one.
Staying true to the original and making a real Deus Ex game is vital to this project. Although we are a new team working on the game, we have the benefit of time and perspective to look back at the first two games and really identify the core aspects of a Deus Ex game, as well as what went right and wrong. Of course, Deus Ex 1 and 2 varied a bit in what those core aspects were -- ultimately, we decided to emulate the first game more; as mentioned, we no longer have unified ammunition and we are returning to an inventory system reminiscent of the first game. We also wanted to ensure that our levels are larger and more open than in Invisible War (i.e. Hong Kong in Deus Ex 1).

square enix? well.. that can be either good or bad. they could fill the game with underage cyborgs with pink hair, pigtails and some cat ears.. hope they stay true to the original formula as they promised.

Why would that necessarily be bad?

1. it shows a big weakness in storyline. A shallow theme to go back in time because the present, future where covered. So by going to the past you dont have to come up with something totally new or creative. You basically dont have to do anything creative, keep it safe use the existing elements and get sales.
2. You basically know what happened in the future, the element of surprise is removed completely from the storyline. Now for a game like deus ex, the story is very important.
3. The multiple endings dont have any purpose any more because you know, no matter what the different type of endings you get in dx3, the present and future endings are already laid out to you. come on this is a no brainer. unless they are going to bring in parallel universes which would be tricky.
4. What this means is you will have a shallow story and motivation to do activities. the rpg activities now dont really matter because you know in the big picture and your actions arent going to impact the future events which have already taken place. Where is the element of surprise?
5. which also means they are going to candy coat it with graphics and other jizz adding no substance to the original game. So why not just make it new games instead? Oh no, there is still some cash to milk....
So i expect to see a shallow story title but with good graphics and gameplay, but not adding any value to the franchise, because as i said you are in the past, but you know exactly how the future events played out. And that is disappointing because history is pretty boring.

i have to agree with master a story isn't too interesting if we already know the outcome of it. the future is always more exciting. if we do something while we're aware of that it has been done before than none of our decisions matter anymore. at least it does have that kinda feel to it. but in the future (or should i say present) that is what really matters, where our actions actually holds some weight.
i don't think there is anyone who's more interested in the prologue of deus ex than the next chapter. that's just can't be boring..

I agree that a prequel is not as fun b/c the ending will not be as surprising. However, I'd like to point out that Deus Ex always had a history angle to it in that it dealt with the Illuminati and the Freemasons, which I presume is what we saw in the trailer.
