VideoGamesSuck.com :: View topic - Battlefield Bad Company 2
If you were to buy Bad Company 2 solely for the single-player campaign, you might come away a bit disappointed. That's not to say it's particularly bad in any way, but it doesn't feel impressive enough to stand on its own as a great experience. Once again, the multiplayer game is the star of the Battlefield show.

Man, gametrailers is really pissing me off

The campaign lacks creativity and is just 7 hours long, but you'll get your money's worth, and then some, from multiplayer.
That's like saying Land of the Lost has no compelling plot, but the bonus features will get you your money's worth

There's a regenerating health bar this time, bringing the game in line with the industry standard
Regenerating health is gay

At least tell us why an inferior platform boasts better performance

That's not what they wrote. GT says that "the PC version lags well behind the visual stalwarts of the platform". I would think this means that it can't compete with graphics of other PC titles, not that it cannot compete with the graphics of the console versions, as you seem to read from this text.
Also the IGN review I referred to says so:
IGN wrote:
If you have a powerful enough PC to run Bad Company 2, this version is the one to go with. High-end rigs will pump out better visuals than what you get on PS3 or Xbox 360. More importantly for many, the PC version allows you to browse servers to find the exact game you want. And to top it all off, you'll get a 32 player game, which makes the battles a couple of squads more intense than the 24 player console iteration.

A more credible source about this topic (than IGN, and apparently also than Gametrailers) is Firingsquad's first impression, which contains the following:
Firingsquad wrote:
The visuals in Bad Company 2 are pretty impressive. Backdrops are nearly photo-realistic and create some epic set-pieces when combined with crisp environment textures, dense foliage, and fancy reflective water. Characters are exquisitely detailed, while sprites and particle effects create explosions that are as awesome to see as they are to cause. Shadowing is mostly good except for jagged edges, particularly on self-shadows. The wide selection of weapons is modeled accurately but many end up looking bland because of poor textures. Keep in mind that the game was reviewed using a GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
Unfortunately, and contrary to developer promises, you can’t yet adjust the field of view! There is no in-game option and no setting in the config files that I could find. It seems, for now, the only way is to do a custom resolution work-around that either results in playing with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen or in windowed mode. I can only assume that this is planned for inclusion in an upcoming patch. On the bright side, you’re probably used to tight FOVs from playing other recent games…

FSquad also mention no prone FFS, no lean, and no toggle for crouching.
Even GRAW2006 had all of that.
I might bargin bin this, but no way I'll buy it now.
There's supposed to be a new GRAW at the end of this yr, if the GFX are COD4 standard with destructible environments, I'll buy on launch.

Apparently Dice will release Battlefield Bad Company 2 also for the PC (unlike part 1).
This link however bodes badly IMHO. AFAIK however Dice has a good reputation, let's hope they don't ruin it.
It generally gets very good user reviews, so I suppose they didn't.

played this for a while and while it was fun,it def. lacked a punch to make it great. other than that the A.I. wasnt dumb like 90% of shooters these days as they would actually flank and duck for cover or use buildings against you.so far it gets a 6/10 from me, using pogma's revered rating systrm.BTW typing on an htc tytn2 kinda sucks if you have big fingers like I do.

oh ja and inclusion of regen health was a bad move, cause you don't really feel challenged when fightin an Abrahams tank.regen health and onlive should be removed from gaming IMO.

That's the spirit.
6/10 is a fail to me, especially as that figure would include highish marks for GFX.

I guess he played it on an xbox, so if he gave a mark for graphics it will be much better on the PC anyway.
