Hey guys, Gonna get BioShock 2 this weekend and play it (and probably finish it in under 8 hours).
I will do a review of it. If any one else wants to do the review, let me know so I don't waste both my time, or yours.
Cheers

The boxar+ is cheesy but reminds me of older 486-era RPG's and games in general. It appears me2 is ''better'' on metacritic. Can't blame em, it does appear faster and more mainstream than the first, but then again these are the guys who gave GTA-SA 10/10

Bioshock was one of the first games I played when I got my new PC, and I liked it for about 2hrs, then I got bored and felt I was just doing dull chores.
ME2 is getting plenty of positive feedback and I've ordered the game from ebay, but I'd be surprised if I bother with Bioshock2.
I also find the prospect of playing as a big daddy extremely unappealing.

I read something about this on usenet too.

I think having to mess with the User.ini to get a decent FOV for widescreen is more annoying.
I added "| SetFOV 90" to my Walk key - so its simple enough but they patched it in for Bioshock 1 and removed it for the sequel!
Does this make any sense?

You mean GTA4? And does metacritic give scores at all? I thought they just compiled scores of other websites.

Haha, tools.
I am playing the 360 version, and it just isn't the same without a mouse. I think the developers realised this too so they made an overly lenient plasmid system, where if you aim in the correct quadrant, the enemy will get zapped.

Just bought the game and am playing it.
So far it is good. They fixed some of the things from the old one. The hack system is much better integrated, for example.
But there are still problems. Even though you are in a bad ass suit, you constantly have the feeling you are going to die.
And one thing that's weird, there is a lot of searching involved, like every room has 12,000 items hidden in desks, corpses, bins, boxes, vaults...

another weird thing is the damage detection. I shot this splicer 2 or 3 times, then shot her in the head with anti-personnel rounds, and she didn't die.

I never found that to be the case. My biggest problem is that you are constantly under severe stress b/c for the entire game you never feel safe. It's like the marine levels of AVP1 again. At least in FEAR they balanced it into Alma phases and Replica phases

A comparison to System Shock 2 would be more suitable because Bioshock was made as the spiritual successor of SS2. This is one of the game elements BS1 borrowed from SS2 (and watered it down a bit, like almost everything from SS2).

system shock 2 is one of the best. it puts the player to the edge when walking in a thight corridor with the lights randomly going on and off.. while only got a handful of ammunition you hear the constant bleeps of the computers and maybe the distant moans of the infected.. some still clinging to their last drops of sanity telling me to run away in a distorted voice. escaped lab monkeys cavorting somewhere and the moans are getting louder.. then suddenly some silhouettes appear in the end of the corridor..
oh and doom 3 was like a 95% remake of this game. except no shodan. can't believe how they had the face to steal this so ostentatiously. even the memos are stolen word-to-word..
