I didn't try (already have the game) but I suppose it will require to login with an Origin account, so you probably must be willing to use Origin (I avoided it so far).

ORIGIN WORKS BUT IS A PAIN IN MY ASS....POSSIBLY AN EVEN BIGGER PAIN THAN FORMER PAIN IN MY ASS GFWL.
FROM MEMORY, DEADSHIT 1 HAD CRAPPY PC CONTROLS WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN FIXED IN DEADSHIT 2.
