I ran Clear Sky DX9 maxed at 1080p, but no aa...or only 2x.....doesn't matter, Clear Sky was more demanding than SOC, but looked much better.

Hmmm, the game certainly has potential, but the outdoor area's of the Zone don't look as good as Clear Sky.
They've made a few changes to the inventory system and also assigned bandages, 1st aid, rad meds and food to F1/2/3/4 and this is highlighted on screen.
I'm playing on the Stalker level{2 higher levels to go} and it can be difficult, but I'm too early in the game to judge.

Is the game good....yes....but is it as good as games like FEAR, HL2, FO3 etc, no, I doubt it, but too early for me to be definitive about that.
Good news is that it's a bit slicker than Clear Sky and they've improved the weather effects again, especially the rain and lighting from lightning.
I have a good feeling I'm going to enjoy it, but I wish they removed the silly antiquated dialogue box, FFS, Mass effect did it brilliantly 2 yrs ago.
My system is W7, E8400, 4850, 4 gig+HAF.

oh, you were actually asking about SOC, yes I liked that game.....one of the few games of 2007 that were any good....but COP's weather effects are 50x better.

ok....also i heard there is some 3rd party texture pak for soc that makes it look better. forgot the link, was it bezerker who put it here?

I dled some crap that was 3.5 gig, it made the game look different, but wasn't an improvement IMO.

I have actually never read anything bad about it (quite a lot of good on the contrary) so it seems like a safe bet. Don't know what Pogma downloaded, apparently it is not the same mod. It does more than merely upgrade graphics BTW (my remark in the link above was incorrect). I have installed it too, but I could only try if the game worked on my old PC (it did) and will start playing the game once I have time. Based on user reviews it is a love or hate game, and it seems just like a game I could love.

Stalker SOC.....8.5/10....one of the better games of 2007
Stalker CS.......7.8/10....buggy but excellent GFX update over SOC
Stalker CoP......6/10......bah.....boring, needs major GFX , weapon and RPG overhaul.

tried soc a year back....didnt find it appealing any more as i recall i had just played mass effect at that time. soc seemed too dull.

soc is a dull mediocre game, its has decent graphics of that time, but its a boring game. the inventory management is shit, the characters are boring, the weapons are shit, the health system is a pain in the ass, the story is dull and doesn't really motivate you to play the game.....much better shooter/rpg games exist in abundance

SoC is about atmosphere as well.....but some people don't seem to find that appealing, they prefer non stop COD style action{targeted at autistic people}.
Btw cunt, I figured out how to play SoC without a manual, so it can't be that difficult with it....that said, I'm not suggesting that SoC is perfect, only that's it's the best Stalker.
The ultimate Stalker would be SoC with CS gfx, CoP rain and bug free gaming.
