btw is not a dual chip, its an single cpu chip with different processing units. cpu+gpu+memory controller. so you wont need a north bridge anymore.
Again according to arstechnica:
Quote:
Intel's design calls for the integration of GPU and memory controller; the CPU connects to this pairing via a single Quick Path Interconnect link.
So it is dual chip on one die, so Pogma9 was correct.

Well, it is only a start of course. AMD purchased ATI for exactly the reason that everyone expects CPU and GPU to be coming together some way or another.

I wonder if this inherent to capitalism in general. For example, you get a sector of the economy which is highly profitable, se people make sound decisions, but then the banking institutions get wind of this, and hike up their rates, and the margin of profits diminish.
I do not get this. If a sector is highly profitable, then that would somehow cause people to make sound decisions? And banks have higher rates for highly profitable business sectors? Why would this highly profitable sector need banks so deperately anyway?
Let's let an example do the talking. When westwood came out, they were a small company, and they made kick ass games (C&C, Red Alert) by spending enough time on it. Then they got bought out by EA and all sorts of constraints got placed on them, and now they have 'sold out'. It's this whole economies-of-scale issue I'm essentially pointing out.

It's just that current GPU's require such elaborate coolers, so it'll be a neat trick to provide an appealing level of performance without requiring a monster sized cooler.

Yes, currently an integration of the CPU in the GPU would seem easier to accomplish than the other way around. But then Intel seems too much of a power in the sector for that to happen any time soon.

your immature opinions dont matter. cpu+gpu on chip integration is bound to happen at fullscale

if your retarded enough to call it a dual chip please go ahead and do so by all means.

We're probably looking at well beyond 2012.
I normally spend about $250AUD on my GPU......I take the view that I'll upgrade the GPU if some good games come out, but they usually don't.

newer fabrication technologies and low power yielding semiconductors will void any requirement of monster size coolers in the near future. it seems to me you like to have a "monster" size cooler, just for the monstrosity of it.

If you do not know the distinction between the die and the chip then you are not very knowledgeable about this subject.

if that is the case then why the fuck are you giving your opinion abt my opinion. clearly you give a deep fuck.

we are nt taking about the difference b/w die and a chip. please dont introduce 'die' to show off your extra knowledge, to impress the kids around here
a chip is just an ic, so by that definition you can have lots of ic's in a cpu. so its just a terminology. but its important to have a consistent terminology. so you dont just call them dual chip, when dual core cpu term already exist which can also be called as dual chips. no actually you call them tri chips because you have 2 cpu cores + the bus controller. so know your terms before giving out a new name and spreading wrong info on the net. kids read this and go happily calling it dual chip.
the correct term for it is hybrid cpus.

Whatever, it is essentially the same configurationas the old Pentium Pro except with graphics in stead of the cache on a seperate chip, see here:
Quote:
The most widely-publicized advanced feature of the Pentium Pro is of course the integrated level 2 cache. The Pentium Pro is shipped in a special dual cavity SPGA package that includes the chip itself and the integrated cache. It goes into a special Socket 8 interface unique to the Pentium Pro. One disadvantage of this arrangement is that the cache is not upgradable without also replacing the processor.

exactly but you donot call a ppro a dual chip, it is simply called a ppro and not ppro dual chip. btw this is the first time you used the term 'whatever' and it is not very bezerker like, i sense a disturbance.

You and Pogma_YXZ and Mihai_XYZ are always getting into arguments. I actually saw the word "bummy"...I haven't heard that since elementary school.
