Battlefield Bad Company 2 requires you to update the game before you can play it, even on a PC (and the update process takes ages...one of my computers crashed in the process and now EA is telling me I have to reinstall, but there is no option to uninstall, and it won't allow me to reinstall until I do so)
Conflict Denied Ops has consolized controls even with the mouse. The crosshair has inertia and the graphics look terrible.

This is usually the case with online games. They get patched and the publisher needs to be sure that every1 has the same version.

I can't even start the game without the mandatory patch. And this 'patch' has taken over two hours to download.

soon there won't be any games in material form, you just buy a little envelope with a small disk containing the xy_game_downloader.exe. so you can download a game from a certain site.
or there will be none at all. you buy everything from websites a'la steam. or just a code like wow gamecard allowing you to download for a single install.
and they want you to download as many times as possible since you can watch their advertisments in the meantime OR get a taste for downloading more stuff. keeping track of released copies to compare it with patches downloaded. see how many pirate versions are out there and such.
it saves money for the publishers aiming to maximize profits. the new generation won't bother since that will be all they experience but the old ones can compare and will miss the good old days when every game came out in a strong box full of stuff like thick detailed manuals, disks in their own cases, cloth maps and such.
now you can only see stuff like this if you buy the game's super collector's deluxe complete edition for double price.

You are a little bitch.
Oh waa, I have to update the game before I can play it. Oh no, the world is over. It took two hours? Move out of the fucking sticks and get a decent connection.
Beyond that, Steam > all. Who gives a fuck about boxes? Sweet, a useless piece of cardboard to sit around and take up space in my house. Optical media is dead.

Yeah obviously, nowadays connections have just one end so upgrading that end will solve the problem!

The mere fact that digital distribution has some advantages does not mean that it does not have disadvantages which could outweigh the advantages. http://www.videogamessuck.com/ftopic504.html

thats your opinion. DD is here, and it works for movies, music, porn and games too.

If you didn't have a problem with the FOV in singularity it is because you are a consoletard or are on the worst 4:3 monitor ever.

The point is that it does not end the world so quit whining, that's about what you told puk, right?
My reason for complaining are legit while puk's are stupid.

The issue is ownership, namely with optical media, or cartridges before them, the product is yours for a far greater time. With steam, complications arise later down the road when, for example, you reach the maximum number of installs, or you forget your password and your e-mail address expired.

Wrong, there are no maximum number of installs unless a shitty publisher dictates there to be so. In which case, it doesn't matter if you bought it on Steam or as optical media.
The password thing is a non-issue as you can call them even if that is the case and clear the matter up in minutes using credit cards and/or other personal information.
Your points you are trying to argue are non-issues.

That's ridiculous, I paid for the game, I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be able to play it.

But is 'the world over' now Singularity has a bad FOV?
